The Virginia Technology Alliance will hold its 2004 Legislative Reception on Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at the Library of Virginia. The reception, which includes participation by all ten of Virginia's regional technology councils, will be hosted by the Greater Richmond Technology Council. As in past years, the Mid-Session Reception caps off a full "Legislative Blitz Day" of activities and meetings for key industry representatives with elected and appointed officials at the capital. The Virginia Technology Alliance provides a legislative voice for the Commonwealth's tech industries and promotes an agenda of technology, education, and economic development initiatives. Blitz Day is designed to reinforce those initiatives in face-to-face meetings. Last year, in addition to members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates, attendees included; Governor Warner, Lt. Governor Kaine, Attorney General Kilgore, the Speaker of the House, members of the Governor's Cabinet, the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Technology & Science, members of the House Science and Technology Committee, and over 250 representatives from Virginia's technology businesses. It is critical that we have a strong showing this year, and once again make a loud statement that tech industries must continue to be the driving force behind the General Assembly's business agenda. Please plan to attend the 2004 Mid-Session Legislative Reception on January 27, and contact the Council office if you are interested in participating in other "Blitz Day" activities. This is your opportunity to personally meet the Commonwealth's key policy makers and to have an impact on tax and regulatory initiatives that will affect your business.
